The term “bottle shock” refers to the reaction that occurs in wine immediately after corking, resulting from oxygen being absorbed during the bottling process. “Bottle Shock” is also the name of an entertaining movie from 2008 that chronicles the story of the early days of California wine making featuring the now infamous, blind Paris wine tasting of 1976 that has come to be known as “Judgment of Paris”.

One of my favorite shows on television is Travel Channel’s Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern. Zimmern travels the globe showcasing some of the more interesting culinary treats from around the world. Zimmern consumes some crazy stuff from episode to episode, but the backbone of the series (in my eyes) is culture and diversity.
